About SASB

Driven by Pure Passion

We don't just play music; we live it. Our unstoppable force of 80+ all-volunteer musicians and visionary conductors unites for one single purpose: the pure love of the craft. Fueled entirely by the joy of performance and the roaring applause of our community, our energy on stage is electric.

The Official Sound of San Antonio

Our historic journey exploded onto the scene on September 4, 1986, when the San Antonio City Council officially designated us as The Official Band of the City of San Antonio. Shortly after, we locked in our non-profit status and began writing music history. Today, we proudly honor that legacy by bringing world-class music to life throughout the year.

Record-Breaking Traditions

A Historic Debut: On November 30, 1986, we launched our legacy at the Hemisfair Convention Center, captivating a massive national audience of delegates at the National League of Cities convention.

Fiesta Royalty: As The Official Band of the city of San Antonio, our legendary annual Fiesta concert stands alone as the only self-funded and longest-running "Official Fiesta Event" in history!

A Sonic Explosion of Repertoire

We command a massive, diverse musical arsenal designed to leave audiences breathless. Every single concert is a uniquely curated experience, seamlessly shifting between:

High-octane, spirited Sousa marches

Masterful, sweeping classical transcriptions

Vibrant, festive Fiesta showstoppers

Sharing the Stage with Legends

Over four decades of excellence, we have shared the spotlight and traded notes with global musical icons and legendary maestros, including:

Featured Soloists & Ensembles: The iconic Miss Vikki Carr, the world-renowned Canadian Brass, trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti, and the magnificent San Antonio Choral Society.

Master Conductors: Renowned maestros like Col. George S. Howard, Frank Ticheli, Clyde Roller, Mark Hindsley, Tom Rhodes, and Richard Kole.

Milestone Showcases: Two prestigious feature performances at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention and countless unforgettable, patriotic Fourth of July celebrations. Performed The Intrepid in New York’s WWII Battleship in 2026.

The volunteers behind every performance.
